Miles Funeral Home in Hazlehurst announces the graveside service for Mr. Raymond Kersey, age 69, of Lumber City who passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2020. Services will be held at 3 PM Saturday in the Midway Baptist Church Cemetery in Appling County with Minister Johnny Taylor officiating. Graveside visitation with the family will be held Saturday from 2-3 PM.
Mr. Kersey was born in Appling County. He was the son of the late Thomas Easter Kersey & Willie Nora Mock Kersey and was preceded in death by a Step-Father: Hugh M. Kersey; Brothers: Thomas Edward Kersey & Monroe Pete Mock; Sister: Barbara Ann Ivey. Mr. Kersey also known as the “Golden Goose” was a retired truck driver.
Survivors include: Daughters: Tanya Mosley (Greg Sheffield) of Baxley, Jessica Brooks (Daniel) of Maine; Angela Hall (Justin) of Hazlehurst; Son: Elliot Kersey of Lumber City (Special Friend: D.J. Griffin); Sisters: Betty Reagin, Faye Carter & Katheryn Kersey all of Hazlehurst; Brothers: Calvin Kersey of Baxley, Joe Kersey of Hazlehurst; Mothers of his children: Sharon Ford & Shirley Varnadoe; Grandchildren: Hunter Mosley, Michaela Mosley, Jared Brooks, Destiny Brooks, Joseph Brooks & Desiree Brooks; Many nieces, nephews & cousins also survive.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bank of Lumber City to offset his medical expenses.
