Miles Funeral Home in Hazlehurst announces the funeral service for Marlen Traviezo-Hernandez, age 52, who passed away Monday, August 29, 2022, from injuries received in an automobile accident.
Ms. Marlen was born June 5, 1970, in San Pedro Sula, Cortes, Honduras. She came to the United States in 1994; she was a strong, independent, and hardworking person, and the most caring, selfless, and supportive parent. She has worked for the Jeff Davis school system in both elementary and high school. She has also worked for Hazlehurst Mills and was currently employed by Thompson Hardwood. Ms. Marlen enjoyed working, dancing, couponing, cooking, and the beach. Her children and grandchildren were the joy of her life. Spending time with them brought her much pleasure.
Survivors include seven children: Reyna Lemus (Luis Aguirre), Celeo Alcidez Lemus, Erika Lopez (Carlos Lopez), Erendida Gonzalez, Angela Gonzalez (Eduardo Solorio), Elsa Marlen Gonzales, and Seline Flores; mother and father: Reyna Isabel Hernandez and Jose Gomez Medina of Hawkinsville; eleven grandchildren: Natalie, Joann, Zoey, Luis Jr., Nicolas, Analia, Julian, Arianna, Emannuel, Rosalia, and Avalynn; and one grand-dog: “Michi”; her significant other of six years: Ricardo Arreola; and one sister: Glenda Traviezo of Honduras. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Denis Omar Lopez, Efrain Hernandez, and Carlos Hernandez; and grandparents: Digna Sarmiento and Rufino Hernandez.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 2, 2022, from 2-4 P.M. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with funeral services following at 4:00 P.M. with Rev. Brian Brazzell officiating. Interment will follow at Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
