Jimmy Ray

Mr. Jimmy LonA Ray, age 78, passed away at his home, Friday, March 13, 2020 following an extended illness.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday, March 19, 2020 in the First Alliance Church 131 Old Graham Road Hazlehurst, Georgia.

Rev. Kelvin Sanders, Kandess Sanders, Rev. Alvin Merritt & Bro. Michael Beecher will officiate. 

Mr. Ray was born January 27, 1942 in Hazlehurst, Georgia; he was preceded in death by his parents, the late LonA Ray and Nina Mae Branch Ray and a daughter, Marcia Ray Hayes. He was a member of First Alliance Church and was formerly employed by Hazlehurst Mills, Jeff Davis County and the Jeff Davis County Board of Education. In his spare time, Jimmy loved to fish and spend time outdoors.

He is survived by daughter, Kandess (Kelvin) Sanders of Hazlehurst, son, Steve (Donna) Ray of Hazlehurst, two sisters, Barbara (Charles) Gruber of Hazlehurst and Betty (Dennis) Swann of Rainbow City, Alabama, a brother, Edward (Kathy) Ray of Key West, Florida, son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Stacey and Ann Hayes, five grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday, March 16, 2020 at the funeral home,
